Here’s a list of Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) to help you get started with Kingsley College.

🏛️ General Questions

Kingsley College is the official theological college for the Wesleyan Methodist Church of Australia. While we are rooted in the Wesleyan-Holiness tradition, we welcome students from all Christian denominations who wish to deepen their faith and leadership skills.

Not at all. While we train many pastors and chaplains, a significant number of our students are “laypeople”—regular church members who want to understand the Bible better or serve more effectively in their local community and workplace.

Kingsley College operates with a “relational approach” that balances academic excellence with spiritual formation. Our approach is unique because it is intentionally practical and vocation-focused, designed to equip students to serve in their local church, workplace, or community regardless of their specific calling. We offer accredited training under the auspices of Eva Burrows College that is “Christ-centred and Bible-based,” specifically emphasizing the Wesleyan-Holiness tradition. We believe the Word of God is the foundation of education and that theology should lead to a “mastery of cognitive skills” while being lived out through Godly values and Christian leadership.

Kingsley College’s physical accessibility and digital integration makes our campuses unique; as well as having over 10 training centres Australia-wide.

With over 10 training centres around Australia, there might just be one running a class near you this semester.
Since many of our classes are online, you might not even need to leave the comfort of your home to be involved in vocational studies with Kingsley College.

Through our “Kingsley Community” program, high school students can often enrol in individual subjects or foundational certificates (like the 11237NAT Certificate IV in Christian Ministry and Theology).
This is a great way to explore your calling and earn accredited units that can count toward future ministry qualifications while you complete your Year 11 or 12 studies.

💻 Study Flexibility

Yes. Many of our classes are fully online and we also offer a robust Distance Education program. You can access lectures, resources, and forums through our online learning platform, allowing you to study from anywhere in Australia or the Pacific.

A single unit typically requires about 2–3 hours per week of reading and preparation for class, before class time of 2 hours each week. Completion of assessments across the semester will then take additional time. Most part-time students take 1 or 2 units per semester to balance study with work and family.

For online studies, you will need a reliable computer (laptop or desktop) with a stable internet connection. According to our ICT Policy, students are responsible for having equipment capable of supporting:
Emails: to receive course materials and have regular correspondence with your trainer;
Web browser: to access Microsoft Teams for interactive video meetings and assessment submission, and to access the digital library resource through the web;
Word Processing Software: to open and create standard document formats like Word or PDF for assessments.

Yes. Kingsley utilises an “All-In” lecture recording policy. Timetabled lectures are automatically recorded and made available to students through Microsoft Teams. These recordings are intended as a study and review tool to provide flexibility. Please note that recordings are for personal study only and are typically stored for 12 months before being deleted.

That’s ok! While our goal is to help you achieve your full qualification, all our courses are designed with flexibility in mind.
– You can enrol in individual subjects one at a time.
– You will receive a “Statement of Attainment” for any units you have successfully completed, even if you don’t finish the award.
– You are always welcome back. You can pause your studies and return whenever you’re ready (note that fees may apply for re-enrolment).
– If you’re looking for personal growth without the pressure of a qualification, you are welcome to join us as an Audit student (‘sit-and-soak’) or as a Non-Accredited student (participating in assessments without receiving formal credit).
There are different options available to you and we’re here to help you find the study path that best fits your calling, lifestyle, and ministry.
